Where Concrete Works Best

Asphalt works best in larger area applications — commercial parking lots, long residential driveways, and road paving — where the cost-per-square-foot advantage is most significant. It also blends naturally with rural and wooded property aesthetics.
The tradeoff is ongoing maintenance. Sealcoating every two to three years and crack filling as needed are required to maintain integrity and appearance. Without regular maintenance, asphalt deteriorates faster than concrete.
Pavers: Maximum Design Flexibility
Concrete or brick pavers offer unmatched design variety. With hundreds of colors, shapes, and patterns available, pavers allow homeowners to fully customize their driveway, patio, or walkway to complement their home's exterior. What Every Quality Concrete Job Requires
Proper Base Preparation
A minimum four to six inches of compacted gravel base provides drainage and load distribution. Inadequate base preparation is the single most common cause of premature concrete failure — and it is impossible to fix after the fact without removing the slab.
Correct Thickness
Residential driveways require at least four inches of concrete; driveways that accommodate heavy trucks should be five to six inches. Garage floors are typically four inches over a proper base.
Control Joints
Saw-cut or tooled control joints are placed every eight to ten feet to direct where the concrete will crack naturally as it shrinks during curing. Without them, cracks appear randomly and often in the most inconvenient locations.
